So this guy walks into a bar…
…and starts hitting on a 16 year old?
I do not mean to be degrading, nor attacking of this blog posted by a student in my cyberporn class, but I do see a lot wrong in the argument about the government’s “age of consent.”
The legal age to have sex isn’t determined by a magic number. Think about a few things before critisizing the government for its age limitations on legality of sexual conduct. The government doesn’t just draw an age limit from a magical hat (though I heard George Bush does a sweet hidden bunny trick), they look at the psychology and development of teenagers. Think about yourself as a raging hormonal beast at 15 and a not-so-raging hormonal beast at 18.
The government puts the age limit of 18 on buying lotto tickets, pornography, and cigarettes. They do this for a reason, at the age of 18 you are considered an adult. You can claim your own independence, you move out of your house, you can even decide whether or not you want to pierce or tatoo your body. There are age limits on everything.
Experimenting with sex before you are able to even claim your own indepedence is dangerous. Call me old school, call me prude, call me whatever…but don’t call me irresponsible. The day and age that we live in is the “get it now, think later” age. There are certain things that a person needs to think about when they choose to engage in sex, one of them being “am I ready to support a child?” If you can’t claim your own independence, you aren’t ready to support a child. I’ll answer that question for you.
The government is basing their age limits on the ability to claim certain responsibilites. We aren’t just talking about pleasure. Yes, a 16 year old can decide whether or not they want to engage in the pleasure of sex, but can a 16 year old claim the responsibilites for their actions? I don’t think so.

I’ve met plenty of 21 year olds who are not mature enough to handle the possible consequences of having sex, and by this age sociey deems us responsible enough to: vote, serve in the military, drink, drive, buy tobacco, purchase porn. How many people here in college over the age of 21 get obliterated every weekend? I do not think that is responsible in the least. And what percentage of those who legally drink also get behind a wheel? Or have drunken, unprotected sex? Or are so drunk they opt to do drugs or commit a crime?

In referance to my post, maybe you did not clearly understand what I was saying.
In no way did I mean that a 13 year old is ready to have sex.
But what is to say the age shouldn’t be 21?
The post was made to say that there shouldn’t be a clearly defined line as to when a person is ready and when they are not.
And who is to say that the government should make such a clear defination of such an age. If there are clear signs that one number is better than a number then why is there such diffentiation.
The post was ment to see other peoples opinions in which it indeed did.

[...] The person who wrote this blog touched on the whole idea of what age is acceptable for having sex and viewing porn. I agree that is fair for the government to place age restrictions on these things. I think 18 is a fair age to pick. But in the end, it really is a personal choice no one can control. The age thing (I think) ends up being something that comes up in legal battles, where a specific age is required because there isn’t a lot of room for personal opinions. [...]

Good Day! Need an advice. My credit is not good. I have applied for credit cards twice and was denied. What is wrong with me? Can I still have a hope to get a credit card to solve some financial problems? I have found one site that presents bad credit cards. There is a note that I can not be rejected. Is this true?
